We are only a very small family breeder.
Our breeding dogs are extensively tested for health and soundness.
The tests we do but are not limited to: – X-ray of the spine to determine wedge / block / butterfly, short vertebrae – and severity of, spondylosis and calcifications of the intervertebral discs as well as the IVDD DNA test Lateral chest, cervical, thoracic & lumbar spine – Hip, Elbow and Patellas checked for dislocation Assessment of breathing by larygoscopy and rhinoscopy while under a light GA Assessment of Tonsils and Saccules – World class DNA screening through Orivet Genetic Pet Carewith Canine DNA Profile (ISAG Canine 288 SNP Panel) All X-ray are evaluated by an independent expert from the Australian grading scheme or through OFA America We are registered breeders which we feel is very important and provide pedigrees with all of our pups. Our puppies have all the breed required health testing recommended and we are striving for healthy, well socialised, happy puppies. We are members of Dogs Victoria, MDBA and the MDBA French Bulldog breed Health advisory committee and various other groups that improve our education and knowledge of the French Bulldog breed. We are also advocates of The Melbourne Bulldog Clinic and support the improvements that MDBA are implementing. We find the genetics and bloodlines aspect of breeding French bulldogs fascinating and like to research thoroughly, prior to matching our dogs in a mating. We do have a fantastic Guardian program, place beautiful pet babies and also happy to work with other like minded breeders. We have a family community group who share experiences and more importantly, lots of love and laughter.

Puppies are raised in our home, around children and other animals. Our dogs are our family, sharing our home, lives and love. They are always interacting with us, each other and our older dogs to become well-adjusted and socialised. We take them out into our local community where they get used to different environments, noise and weathers. They have plenty of enrichment both inside the house and outdoors.
I am on the French Bulldog Health Advisory Committee of the MBDA and also support Orivet Genetic Pet Care, therefore I conduct full breed profile DNA testing, screwtail in the tail tests, X-rays of the Spine and Trachea, as well as Hips, Elbows and Patellar. My puppies gut health is incredibly important, so I start with probiotic rich yoghurt when young, moving them over to lactose free milk and premium grade Royal Canin biscuits & Prime100 fresh food.
We have set up a sterile whelping pen with an incubator inside our house where the puppies remain for their first few weeks. They play in the lounge with their toys as they start to become more mobile and adjusted to family life. We have paved areas outside with fake grass, obstacles for them to climb over and tunnels for them to navigate through and explore. We are semi-rural, so live close by to a small residential community base where they are taken out to explore and become familiar in this environmental setting.
My extensive puppy pack includes Royal Canin biscuits, lactose free milk, Prime100 food and bowl, a bed, scented blanket of mum and litter siblings, a carry basket, chews, Conni wee pads, grass mat toilet, Vet Choice starter pet insurance, breeder contract and health test documents. We have a family community group who share experiences and ongoing support is very important to us.
Our World Of French Bulldogs conducts 4 out of 5 core health tests which RightPaw believe are most important to conduct for the French Bulldog.
PHYSICAL TEST
This test involves running the dog at a steady trot for three-minutes and assessing their breathing before and after. It is designed to help grade their level of BOAS (Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome), a complex respiratory problem that affects dogs with short skulls, such as the British Bulldog, French Bulldog and Pug. Dogs with moderate or severe BOAS should never be bred.
PHYSICAL TEST
These breeders have had x-rays taken on their breeding dogs to assess their ‘hip score’. Dogs with low hip scores have better hips and are less likely to develop problems in the future. Most large and medium sized dog breeds benefit from hip scoring to ensure they are unlikely to pass hereditary hip problems on to their puppies.
PHYSICAL TEST
Dogs affected by patellar luxation have loose kneecaps that may pop in and out of the knee joint, which can be painful and even require surgery. Having a vet examine breeding dogs for patellar luxation can confirm the dog is not affected, and that their puppies are less likely to develop the condition. Patellar luxation is more common in smaller breeds.
PHYSICAL TEST
Many breeds with screw-tails or long backs are prone to congenital spinal abnormalities such as hemivertebrae or disc calcification. These can cause spinal kinks and instability resulting in a high rate of slipped discs and spinal injury. Breeders can conduct xrays to identify if a breeding dog has a high risk of spinal instability. These dogs should not be bred. Some breeders will also xray puppies at 6-8 weeks old to confirm the status of their spine for new owners.

GENETIC TEST
Canine Multifocal Retinopathy (CMR) is a genetic disorder causing local detachment of the retina in young dogs. It does not always cause impaired vision or blindness but can in severe cases. There are three types of CMR affecting different breeds. A DNA test is available to identify if a breeding dog is carrying this condition.
PHYSICAL TEST
Inherited deafness is common in specific breeds such as Dalmatians and Bull Terriers. Merle coat patterns and white coat colour can also be linked to deafness. It is recommended breeders of at-risk breeds or coat colours have the puppies checked with a Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) test at around 6 weeks old, before they go to new homes.
GENETIC TEST
This is a disease affecting the spinal cord of older dogs, initially causing wobbliness and eventually hindlimb paralysis. It can affect a wide range of breeds. There is now a DNA test that can indicated if a breeding dog is carrying this disease.
PHYSICAL TEST
These breeders have had x-rays taken on their breeding dogs to assess the quality of their elbow joints. Dogs with very low ‘elbow scores’ are less likely to develop elbow problems in the future and less likely to pass hereditary elbow problems on to their puppies.
GENETIC TEST
Hereditary Cataracts (HC) is a genetic form of cataracts. There is a DNA test available in some breeds to indicated whether a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

Hyperuricosuria (HUU) is a genetic disease that causes a build-up of uric acid in the urine, predisposing to painful bladder and kidney stones. It can occur in a range of breeds. There is a DNA test available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this disease.

A heart certificate indicates a breeder has had their breeding dogs declared free from common heart conditions which might be passed down genetically to the puppies. This can be done by auscultation or echocardiography with a veterinary cardiologist, or by echocardiography with a GP vet. Common heart conditions include Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) and Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease (MMVD).

British Bulldogs are known to be high risk for tracheal hypoplasia, where the trachea (windpipe) is very narrow. Some breeders have xrays taken of their breeding dogs to ensure the diameter of their trachea at the level of the thoracic inlet (where the windpipe enters the lungs) is not extremely narrow. Research is still being conducted to determine the significance of these results for puppies.

Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) in dogs is a type of genetic eye disease causing deterioration of the retina and eventually, blindness. There are a variety of sub-types of PRA, which can occur in various breeds. There are various DNA tests available to identify whether a breeding dog is carrying this condition.

I was inspired by my cousin who shows dogs in QLD, being an animal lover, this for me is a hobby of love and wellbeing.

We find the genetics and bloodlines aspect of breeding French bulldogs fascinating and like to research thoroughly prior to matching our dogs in a mating, which we plan years in advance.
